Artist’s Note:

“When I was little whenever I heard the story of the lost sheep I was always jealous of the sheep that had ‘gone astray’. I thought I was living ‘right’ with the flock…but in actuality I wanted to be held by Jesus!
Maybe my little self was on to something – that being lost can be a wonderful thing…

MAYBE being safe in the flock is a holding space for us – an opportunity to become either the lost sheep or a proxy Shepherd…all places where we learn, grow, mess up, and keep trying.

We are all on our own pathway of being found! It doesn’t matter how we become lost – from our own choices or from circumstances out of our control…what matters is He knows where you are.
He can always find you…
in your grief.
In your fears.
In your tears.

In our pathway to being found, the beautiful thing that happens is not only do we come closer to the Good Shepherd, but we also become more like him. And that means we too can find the lost sheep.
Weep with them.
Sit with them.
Strengthen them.
Find them where they are at, just like the Savior does.

How many times I have felt forlorn from where I thought my path should be, confused and ashamed of why I was not on it. Utterly lost, He not only comes to me and shows me the way, but He even picks me up…carrying me.

What if that lost sheep was on exactly the right path, even when it thought it was intensely derailing? That by getting lost, she came closer to the shepherd than ever before?
What better way — to be lost, that we can be lifted up and held by the Savior and carried home?

“You may feel that your life is in ruins. You may have sinned. You may be afraid, angry, grieving, or tortured by doubt. But just as the Good Shepherd finds His lost sheep, if you will only lift up your heart to the Savior of the world, He will find you.

He will rescue you.
He will lift you up and
He will carry you home.”
